The Summit Racing Equipment I-X Piston Powered Auto-Rama, held at the I-X Center in Cleveland, Ohio, adds two new features. The 2014 show will include the South Hall Hot Rod Asylum and the Genuine Hotrod Hardware Pedal Car Challenge.
Cleveland, OH, May 18, 2013 --(PR.com)-- The Summit Racing Equipment I-X Piston Powered Auto-Rama announces two new features to the world's largest indoor showcase of its kind featuring custom cars, trucks, antique construction equipment, motorcycles, tractors, planes, military equipment, interactive displays and more. The March 14-16, 2014 show will now include the South Hall Hot Rod Asylum and the Genuine Hotrod Hardware Pedal Car Challenge.
"Our promise to show-goers is to create a better and different show every year," said Show Manager, Steve Legerski. "This year, we had 35,000 enthusiasts come to the show. When they return in 2014, they will be amazed at the innovative changes we implemented so they can enjoy a unique experience each year."
The new South Hall Hot Rod Asylum will feature vehicles including cars, trucks and motorcycles that are Kustoms, Nostalgic Race Cars, and/or have a Nostalgic Appearance. All vehicle applications will be screened and approved by the South Hall Hot Rod Asylum Registration Committee. Special awards will be given out, including the top “Straight Jacket” award, at the awards ceremony on Saturday.
"The historic Cleveland Auto-Rama has been revitalized and reborn as the Summit Racing Equipment I-X Piston Powered Auto-Rama," said Slick Devil, Don Moyer. "Last year's show was incredible and recognized as one of the best in the country by auto enthusiasts. Our club, The Slick Devils, a Cleveland-based car club, will be working with the show team to launch a new tradition at the 2014 Summit Racing Equipment I-X Piston Powered Auto-Rama. The South Hall Hot Rod Asylum will cater to the rich history of traditional Hot Rods, Kustoms, Motorcycles and Nostalgia Race Cars. Our goal is to create an area at the show that gives the show attendees a glimpse into the way it used to be at indoor shows with today's outstanding talent and the resurgence of the traditionally styled rods, so grease your hair and get ready for a show that Rocks Cleveland!"
This area will also showcase the Devil's Row and the Dirty Dozen, of which all 12 vehicle owners in the Dirty Dozen will receive a collectible participant jacket. It will also be host to Rockabilly Bands throughout the weekend, which is one of the earliest styles of rock and roll music dating back to the early 1950s blending country & western and rhythm & blues, plus the Cruisin' Times Pin-Up Contest.
The new Genuine Hotrod Hardware Pedal Car Challenge Presented by Summit Racing Equipment is an opportunity for a team of students to apply their technical skills in a hands-on project that involves planning, design, creativity, productivity, and resourcefulness. Qualifying schools will be selected from the submitted applications and given one of only eight Hot Rod Pedal Cars from Genuine Hotrod Hardware Inc. for their students to customize and display throughout the show.
"We have our promise to show-goers, but we also have a commitment to Northeast Ohio and the students who are the future of this industry, and that's why we are launching the Genuine Hotrod Hardware Pedal Car Challenge," said Operations Manager, Bill Perrien. "This challenge will enhance Student Career Day to encourage students be more involved in the industry."
The object is to create an award winning pedal car, fully finished and painted. Schools can pick one of two themes for this year's contest - Saint Patrick's Day or Cleveland Rocks and Rolls. A display area will then be set up for the eight (8) competing pedal cars which will be judged by ISCA staff based on creativity, quality of workmanship, overall appearance, attention to detail, and representation of the theme. The cars will be auctioned off on Saturday at the Filling Station during the Awards Ceremony and all proceeds will be donated back to the participating school’s automotive program. Trophies for the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place cars will be handed out at Sunday’s Awards Ceremony.
