Tallahassee Inventor Raising Funds to Build Prototypes of His Humanitarian Product on Indiegogo.com
The concept was conceived because so many lives are needlessly lost due to simple infections immediately after a catastrophic event, that many lives can be saved if we quickly deliver aid with supplies, personnel and a facility.
Tallahassee, FL, May 18, 2013 --(PR.com)-- Tallahassee resident and inventor, Dusan "Deuce" Pesic, is raising funds for his invention known as F.R.E.N.D.S. on the crowd funding site indiegogo.com, which accepts donations and contributions from viewers globally. The campaign is currently on the crowd funding site and it ends at 10:00am June 19, 2013.
F.R.E.N.D.S. are First Response Emergency Needs Dispatched Shelters. They are designed to be taken to locations by helicopter where people are trapped due to natural disasters. The shelters measure 15 feet by 50 feet, which are the same dimensions of a single wide mobile home, and a 15 foot by 25 foot smaller model. The walls of the units fold inward, resulting in a total height of only 36 inches in its collapsed position. This allows them to be easily transported by air as well as maximizing fuel consuption on a tractor trailer. Stacking them 3 levels high on a trailer bed would provide a maximum transportation of 2,250 square feet of temporary, self powered shelters.
F.R.E.N.D.S. are designed to have solar panels in the roof section to provide an ongoing power supply. The design has a sealed storage space beneath the interior flooring that not only houses the electrical components for the solar energy, but ample space for food, water and medical supplies. Volunteers, on location, would use a wired control box to activate motors located in the roof, that will raise the walls to their upright position. The shelters are adaptable for variuos uses from Emergency rooms, ICU’s to command centers and shelters for our soldiers and service men and women.
Not only are F.R.E.N.D.S. designed to bring emergency aid to locations where none is available, but also in hopes to see an increase in the number of volunteers now that they have a facility, and shelter from the elements, to do their job most effectively.
Aiming to raise $1.75MM, viewers must understand the high cost materials that are being used to construct the prototypes. High guage aluminum frame, polycarbonate walls, solar panels and TimberSil wood are used to build the 2 models totaling approximately $400,000. A facility, plus insurance, to construct the prototypes will be the largest expense at approximately $600,000.
There are also engineering fees, accountants, lawyers, Public Relations, then water, electric, phone, etc. Mr. Pesic did not want to break the project into stages because he did not feel comfortable to constantly re-appear asking for contributions and donations to complete the project. With the project fully funded, properly, from the beginning, the process can be accelerated to the construction phase versus staging the funds over a longer period of time. There is no reason to wait as F.R.E.N.D.S. proves to be a valuable product that can be applied to global issues today.
Due to difficult financial times, the indiegogo campaign is set up to receive a minimum contribution of $1. Even if you are unable to contribute, viewers are asked to share this project with their friends and families on Facebook, Twitter and email contacts as they are a tremendous help in finding like minded individuals globally.
