Sheldrake Environmental Center to Offer Exciting Ecological Experiences Through Their Summer Children’s Programs
There’s fun for children of all ages at Sheldrake Environmental Center! Sign your child up for Sheldrake’s June Mini Camp for Pre-schoolers. It’s perfect for the gap between the end of pre-school and the beginning of summer camp. Then, starting in July, Sheldrake will be offering a Summer Nature Camp for children ages 3-8. Your children will not only have a blast, but will also learn important ecological concepts.
Larchmont, NY, May 19, 2013 --(PR.com)-- The summer is coming quickly upon us. Would you like to ensure that your children take advantage of the summer weather to appreciate the natural world around them? Well, it’s not too late to sign them up for Sheldrake Environmental Center’s Summer Children’s Programs.
Trying to fill up that awkward gap when school is out and summer camp hasn’t started yet for your 4-5-year-old? Sheldrake will be offering a June Mini Camp for Pre-Schoolers. There will be weekly sessions starting June 3 and ending June 28. Your 4-5-year-olds will explore the trails, investigate pond life, and search for animals in nature’s playground.
The fun doesn’t have to stop when the June Mini Camp ends. Sign up your children (ages 3-8) for Sheldrake’s Summer Nature Camp. There will be weekly sessions starting July 1 and ending August 9 (no class on July 4). At Nature Camp your children will not only have fun, but they will also learn important ecological concepts through experiences that will assist them in becoming effective caretakers of the Earth.
“Our programs are all hands-on,” said Jenny Geer, environmental educator. “We let children discover nature by being outside and using their senses -- listening for robin calls, looking for chipmunk holes, touching rough and smooth bark, smelling onion grass. One day we’ll turn over logs, the next we’ll go for a bug hunt in the meadow. Summer at Sheldrake is a wonderful time because every day nature puts on a different show for us.”
