Young Filmmakers Are Opening Eyes to Homelessness in L.A.

Los Angeles, CA, May 23, 2013 --(PR.com)-- Hope For Our Own: An L.A. Story is a documentary-style short film directed and produced by Riley Beres, a rising actress and model and Jimmy Deshler, an actor best known for his role as “Rafe” on the daytime series, General Hospital.

This eye opening film will address the growing epidemic of homelessness in Los Angeles. There are over 50,000 homeless people in Los Angeles County alone. These young filmmakers will address the reasons why these numbers continue to grow, what help is out there, and how they vow to make a change.

Follow Beres and Deshler as they embark on this journey to bring the many faces of homelessness to light and bring attention to the shocking facts that very few know. The pair will give an inside view of the shelters and organizations that are helping the homeless, background stories, interviews, and their main goal is to educate the public and discuss their plan for social change.

Riley Beres is a young budding actress, comedian and model. She has directed and produced three web-series episodes and a short film. She is looking forward to creating this informational film, as homelessness has affected members of her family. She became even more compassionate and focused on this complex subject while volunteering at local shelters. Follow Beres on Twitter @rileyberes.

Jimmy Deshler is an actor, best known for his role as “Rafe” on ABC’s General Hospital and has made other co- and guest-star appearances on Criminal Minds and Disney XD’s Kickin’ It. He makes his directing debut with Hope For Our Own. Jimmy has always had an affinity toward the homeless community, volunteering his time at local shelters and missions in his spare time. Hope For Our Own needs the help of the community, businesses, and fellow supporters of the cause to complete the production of this informational short film. The pair is raising funds for the project, with incentive packages at: http://www.indiegogo.com/projects/hope-for-our-own-an-la-story.

Filming on Hope For Our Own: An L.A. Story will begin in July 2013.
