Christiaan Heijmen of Vaco Raleigh Receives Honor from Duke University Fuqua School of Business
Managing Director for Executive Recruiting Firm and Duke University Fuqua School of Business Graduate Wins the School’s Award for Exemplary Service
Raleigh, NC, May 24, 2013 --(PR.com)-- Vaco (http://www.vaco.com), an executive placement and consulting firm, has announced that Christiaan Heijmen, the firm’s managing director of senior executive search, was selected as the winner of the Duke University Fuqua School of Business Award for Exemplary Service at the Fuqua Alumni Reunion on April 27. The award recognizes annually, an individual who demonstrated dedication to the Business school by donating their time, energy, talents and financial support and by building networks through class activities, regional programs and initiatives within their corporation as well as service to students and faculty. Award recipients are selected for leading by example by showing others how to strengthen the bonds between the school and its alumni and corporate partners.
The Fuqua School of Business recognized Heijmen for his achievements as an active alumnus and for the impact his volunteer work has had on the school. Heijmen’s volunteer work with the school includes making an introduction to Joe Bailey, former CEO of the Miami Dolphins, who had no previous ties to Duke University and now sits on the COLE Board; serving as a panel member for numerous conferences and as a guest speaker for classes; connecting Fuqua students with internships and hiring them as interns himself; assisting Fuqua students and alumni with career opportunities and co-leading the COLE Fellows reunion. This past year, he also served as a mentor to the Fuqua McGowen Scholarship recipient.
He graduated with highest honors from the University of Massachusetts, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in hospitality management and a Bachelor of Arts in English before receiving his master’s in business administration from Duke University.
As Vaco’s managing director of senior executive search, Heijmen leads a team dedicated to building Vaco’s executive recruiting practice by developing relationships with senior executives throughout the Triangle.
