Marc Hoffman Premiere at Pops at the Post
Salisbury Symphony Orchestra to perform Marc Hoffman work.
Salisbury, NC, May 25, 2013 --(PR.com)-- The Salisbury Symphony Orchestra and Music Director David Hagy will include a new piece by NC composer Marc Hoffman on their annual Pops at the Post Concert. The concert will take place beside the Salisbury Post in downtown Salisbury on Saturday, June 1st, beginning at 7.30 PM. After the first concert celebrating the newspaper’s centennial in 2005, the Post began sponsoring this community tradition.
Hoffman's new work is a medley of film cues taken from a recent score for a film by NC filmmaker Will Merrick.
“Salisbury and Rowan County residents look forward to this concert every year,” Hoffman said. “And I am especially grateful to Maestro Hagy for including a piece of mine on this year's concert.”
An established composer, jazz vocalist and pianist, Marc Hoffman is known throughout North Carolina and beyond for his performances as a soloist and with his trio at festivals, corporate and private events, and other venues. He performs frequently at Ethos in Salisbury, NC. On the same day as Pops at the Post will return to perform at Childress Vineyards in Lexington, NC for the Music in the Vineyard series.
Marc is currently at work scoring an animated feature written by legendary animator Tom Ray. Recent film work includes the score for “40 Fears” for Charlotte-based Dalliance Films. Previous film work includes scoring, “The Mill” and acting as Music Supervisor for several films. He was also music historian for the film “Revolution”. Also an author, Marc’s Essential Worship Keyboard is published by Emerald Books and picture book, Sleep, Little Child by Virillion Music Publishing.
Marc's original concert, sacred and jazz pieces have been performed across the US, and in the UK, France and The Netherlands.
