Superbowl Champion Dorsey Levens & Former Real Housewives of Atlanta Cast Member Lisa Wu Star in A Stage Play Called "Stripped"
Dorsey Levens, former Green Bay Packers running back and Super Bowl Champion, teamed up with Tiffany Brown to create The Takeover Project, which will bring the stage play “Stripped” to Atlanta for the second time. The all-star cast includes Lisa Wu (Real Housewives of Atlanta), Rashan Ali (Media Personality), Ryan Stewart (2 Live Stews Radio Show), and former NFL players Karon Joseph Riley and Ed Hartwell.
Atlanta, GA, May 25, 2013 --(PR.com)-- “Stripped” gives an authentic view into the trials and tribulations of professional football players. Behind the high-profile lives of these athletes lies a life of sacrifices for the players and their families. The play strips down the layers of fame and fortune to reveal dramatic scenes, tested faith, unyielding perseverance, and comedic overtures that will have audiences falling out of their seats.
Bringing a new perspective on the traditional stage play, “Stripped” begins at the end when main character Jayden Dorsey (Levens) attends the funeral of his best friend and fellow teammate. The actors then take the audience back to the beginning, touching on real-life topics, including prostate cancer, early-onset Alzheimers as a result of multiple concussions suffered by athletes, marital woes, money and greed. Family and marriage are central themes, as portrayed by Lisa Wu who plays Brooklyn Dorsey, Jayden’s dedicated wife of 13 years who longs for a “normal” life with her husband.
The play’s writer and lead actor Dorsey Levens says, “Stripped is not a story of one particular athlete but rather bits and pieces of stories from lots of different athletes. It's a real and raw look at the life of a sports figure, from their personal perspective.”
“Stripped” takes the audience on a rollercoaster of emotions felt by players and their families, leaving individuals smiling, crying, laughing, and deeply connected to the characters.
Stripped premiers in Atlanta on Thursday, May 30, 2013 at 8PM the Porter Sanford III Performing Arts & Community Center, 3181 Rainbow Drive, Decatur, GA 30034. Additional show times are May 31st at 8pm, June 1st at 3pm and 8pm, and June 2nd at 6pm. Tickets are available online at www.thetakeoverproject.net
