Pre-Kindergarten Initiative Strikes Deal with Star Shuttle.
Star Shuttle & Charter of San Antonio, Texas, a family-owned transportation company with more than 50 years of local and national experience, is proud to have won the exclusive contract with the City of San Antonio, Texas for their newly developed Pre-Kindergarten program Pre-K 4 SA.
Pre-K 4 SA is an initiative designed to improve the quality and quantity of prekindergarten (Pre-K) childhood education for four-year-olds citywide focusing on literacy and numeracy. The program serves to provide full-day Pre-K to more than 20,000 children, while providing high quality training for Pre-K through grade 3 educators across the city. Research shows high-quality prekindergarten has the most impact in improving overall education outcomes for communities and helps children to learn and read on grade-level, making them less likely to fall behind their classmates and more likely to graduate and attend college.
Star Shuttle & Charter is honored to receive the contract out of the many transportation providers in the San Antonio area. In a statement from the City of San Antonio, City Manager Sheryl Sculley expressed her enthusiasm for the partnership, declaring “the City of San Antonio is proud to partner with Star Shuttle. Now that we have an official transportation company on board, Pre-K 4 SA is one step closer to getting started as classes will begin August 26.” Sculley continued to note, “One of the reasons (the City of San Antonio) chose Star Shuttle is because the company is a local and smaller company committed to providing the best transportation services to our children. The safety of our 4-year-olds is of the utmost importance and priority.”

Star Shuttle has 11 years of Texas school bus service experience and has had a transit contract with VIA Transit for 21 years. The company is dedicated to the Pre-K initiative and will be transporting more than 50 percent of Pre-K 4 SA students on their brand new buses from about 10 pick-up/drop-off depots.
