Diploma to Degree Program Launches to Help Kansas Adults Complete Their High School Diploma and Earn College Credits Online at No Cost to the Student

Lyons, KS, May 31, 2013 --(PR.com)-- Lyons USD 405, Pratt Community College and eduKan, well-known for providing educational programs to Kansas students, are proud to announce a strategic partnership between their institutions and CompuHigh aimed at helping adults in Kansas who need to finish their high school education and earn their diploma while also earning college credits, all online and according to their own schedule, at no cost to the student. The Diploma to Degree Program, or D2D, is the first of its kind in the United States that offers concurrent courses along with dual credits delivered virtually via the Internet.

"USD 405-Lyons, in cooperation with Pratt Community College, eduKan, and CompuHigh, is proud to be able to provide the Diploma to Degree virtual school."

The Diploma to Degree (D2D) Program is open to all adult Kansas residents who have not received their high school diploma, providing the opportunity to receive it from an accredited institution. Funded by the State of Kansas, D2D’s tuition-free online program will give adult students the ability to earn the credits needed to complete their high school education while also earning credit towards an Associates Degree utilizing digital learning materials that can be accessed through the Internet from PCs, laptops or tablet mobile devices.

During the 2010-2011 school year, 3,092 Kansas students dropped out of school according to a report by the Kansas Commission on Graduation and Dropout Prevention and Recovery. Kansas residents who do not receive a high school education are more likely than their graduated peers to live in poverty and be unemployed. This results in approximately $260,000 in lost earnings over the course of their lifetime and something D2D has the potential to change.

"We believe this is the only virtual school in Kansas designed for students 21 years or older that provides this unique educational experience," said Sechrist.
