Toll Brothers Colorado Team Plants Trees at Edwards Animal Rescue
Forty Toll Brothers staff members recently volunteered at Edwards Animal Rescue by planting much-needed shade trees.
Parker, CO, June 02, 2013 --(PR.com)-- Large animals at the Edwards Animal Rescue in Parker can look forward to some shade thanks to the hard work of a team of 40 staff members from Toll Brothers. The group recently planted 60 trees donated by Harrison Nurseries on the five-acre ranch that houses animals such as horses, goats, llamas and even zebus.
The Edwards Foundation is a small privately owned operation that has been rescuing large animals for 25 years. John and Lynda Edwards, both retired teachers who love animals, have strived to make a difference by taking in animals from families and zoos who are no longer able to keep them. The Edwards have a 70-acre ranch in Elbert County but the Parker ranch—which had few trees before the planting event--is where they keep animals that need constant care.
On their volunteer day, Toll Brothers staff not only planted the 60 trees but set-up drip lines, mulched, and installed horse wire fencing around the new plantings. “We really enjoyed planting the trees and meeting all of the animals,” says Charlie Bowie, Colorado Division President for Toll Brothers. “We learned a lot about the care and feeding of these animals. The project was a fun way to give back to our community and work together as a team, too.”
