Minerva Secures RDK License from Comcast
Minerva named licensee of Comcast’s Reference Design Kit (RDK) to deliver next generation Pay-TV services.
Washington, DC, June 12, 2013 --(PR.com)-- Minerva Networks, a leading provider of software solutions for the delivery of television services over broadband networks announced today that it has secured a license from Comcast to develop against Comcast’s Reference Design Kit (RDK). The RDK initiative is intended to speed the development and deployment of next-generation video services such as cloud-based functionality, and enhance guide experiences with richer graphics and better search capabilities. The agreement allows Minerva to integrate its award winning iTVFusion client with the RDK software stack which will allow cable operators to shorten the introduction of new interactive Pay-TV services.
“Integrating our iTVFusion Pay-TV solution with the standard software stack provided through the RDK will allow cable operators to rapidly launch services like whole home DVR, OTT, and multi-screen that are demanded by their subscribers, while at the same time providing cable operators with a great deal of flexibility and openness through our back-office service management platform, necessary for their migration towards an all IP service delivery model,” said Jean-Georges Fritsch, Minerva’s EVP of Products.
In conjunction with Minerva’s robust HTML5 client UI, along with native apps for iOS and Android, Minerva will be able to deliver a compelling user experience that allows cable operators to remain competitive in the evolving Pay-TV market while enabling a cost effective glide-path to next generation services in the future.
