Dana Point Turkey Trot Celebrates National Running Day with Opening of 2013 Race Registration and Call for Sponsors
Dana Point Chamber of Commerce Opens Registration for Thanksgiving Day Run
Dana Point, CA, June 12, 2013 --(PR.com)-- In honor of National Running Day, registration for the 36th annual Dana Point Turkey Trot will open on June 5 to let runners everywhere celebrate by committing to participate in what Fitness Magazine has called “one of America’s best Thanksgiving Day runs.” Known for its scenic coastal routes, beautiful weather, and family-friendly activities, the Dana Point Turkey Trot has become an Orange County tradition, attracting more than 16,000 participants, to its 5K, 10K, Kids’ Gobble Wobble, and two-day health and wellness expo.
“For 36 years, the Dana Point Chamber of Commerce has produced one of the nation’s largest Thanksgiving Day runs,” said Heather Johnston, executive director, Dana Point Chamber of Commerce. “Whether running your first Turkey Trot or your 36th, encouraging your kids to join in the Gobble Wobble, visiting with friends old and new, or exploring the health and wellness expo, we’ll have activities for the whole family.”
Early details on new enhancements for this year’s race include: a brand new Dana Point Turkey Trot website, a simplified and secure registration platform through Eventbrite, a contest to allow the community to design this year’s participant medal, and regular fitness tips provided by Dana Point local and personal trainer, Mo Langley.
The Dana Point Turkey Trot is also calling for sponsors for this year’s event, ranging from the Title Sponsorship to in-kind donations. The event is a great opportunity for local organizations and businesses to reach tens of thousands of runners, athletes and community members, and millions more through media, all while making a vital impact on the local economy. Salt Creek Grille, a popular Dana Point restaurant featuring American cuisine, is the first to show its support for the Orange County Thanksgiving Day tradition.
