Coalition to Salute America’s Heroes Teams with Feed The Children to Distribute Goods to Wounded Veterans
Massive donations of books, bottled water and more delivered to U.S. Army bases
Leesburg, VA, June 13, 2013 --(PR.com)-- Continuing a powerful partnership that began in 2012, the Coalition to Salute America’s Heroes (Coalition) and Feed The Children are in the process of donating more than $500,000 worth of requested goods to several U.S. Army bases.
On May 1, the two leading charitable organizations delivered a total of 30,000 bottles of water to Fort Sam Houston and Brooke Army Medical Center in Texas. The following week, the groups delivered 80,000 bottles of water to Fort Carson in Colorado. The water was donated to the groups by Niagara Bottling.
In late May, the Coalition and Feed The Children delivered children’s books valued at more than $200,000 to Fort Sill, Oklahoma. Fort Carson will receive an identical shipment this month.
“Our alliance with Feed The Children is making a meaningful difference in the lives of thousands of wounded warriors and their families,” said David Walker, President & CEO of the Coalition to Salute America’s Heroes, a leading not-for-profit dedicated to rebuilding the lives of severely wounded veterans of the War on Terror. “The food, water, books and school supplies we’re delivering to Army bases across the country are meeting basic needs that simply aren’t being addressed by our government. We are proud to do our part to help these true American heroes.”
In 2012, Feed The Children kicked off the partnership by donating 100,000 James Patterson novels to the Coalition, which subsequently delivered the books to several bases through the MWR (Morale, Welfare & Recreation) program, a family support system administered by the U.S. Army.
“We’re very proud to team up with the Coalition to Salute America’s Heroes over the past year,” said Kevin Hagan, President & CEO of Oklahoma City-based Feed The Children. “Our mission to feed not only bodies but also minds links well with the Coalition’s mission of supporting wounded warriors and their families. We look forward to a long partnership that will benefit thousands more veterans in the months and years ahead.”
About the Coalition to Salute America’s Heroes

The Coalition is distinguished from other veteran-focused organizations by its direct financial and in-kind assistance to America’s wounded heroes. Its Emergency Financial Aid program has stopped foreclosure proceedings on veterans’ homes and kept their vehicles from being repossessed. The organization regularly provides gift checks to cover meals, medical and utility bills, clothing, car repairs and even baby diapers.
