New Comedy, "Midnite Cabby" Announced as Filmmaker, Rocky Costanzo’s Next Feature Film Project
The project, which has been quietly in the works for two years, centers on a man who has to drive a cab all night to raise enough money to bail out his brother over a gambling debt.
Long Beach, CA, July 02, 2013 --(PR.com)-- Orange County Film Company, Hourglass Pictures, led by Independent Filmmaker, Rocky Costanzo, has teamed up with One Take Films to collaborate on a new outrageous comedy, entitled “Midnite Cabby.” The film is about a guy, who, under certain circumstances, has to drive a cab all night and collect fares to rescue his brother who is being held down in a warehouse over a gambling debt. Costanzo said of the new film, “I wanted to make a fun popcorn film, one that I would actually go see and we’re having a blast on the set!”
"Cabby" marks the first produced film under his company, Hourglass. The script and details of the film’s story have been kept tightly under wraps. Most of the actors only received their lines. Casting was also done anonymously as an “untitled comedy,” though some of the cast members are returning actors from Costanzo’s previous films.
"Cabby" is a co-produced effort with One Take Films and is being produced by Richard Meese in his first attempt behind the camera. Meese, who has appeared in Costanzo’s past films as an actor, approached Costanzo about the idea of collaborating on a new film. The two hashed out many ideas but ultimately decided on a comedy. Meese also contributed on the screenplay, creating some of the characters. The film is expected to begin production early this summer in a few California beach cities, including San Diego and Long Beach.
Richard Meese said, “We set out to make a hilarious film and we are confident it won’t disappoint.” The film is slated for festivals and markets before it is released to the world in 2014.
