Meadows of Dan, VA, June 20, 2013 --(PR.com)-- Meadows of Dan Elementary School was more than 70 years old when it was destroyed by a fire in August 2012. New Atlantic is currently performing site preparation, construction, and minimal renovations of a 31,760 SF, 2-story building. Work includes concrete footings, column foundations and slabs, load bearing CMU walls, structural steel columns, floor joists, and roof framing; composite steel/concrete 2nd floor deck, light gauge metal framed exterior wall with brick veneer; standing seam metal roofing, painted gypsum board interior finish, carpet, ceramic, and resilient tile flooring; plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and data systems with a sprinkler fire protection system. There is limited site work that includes asphalt paving, concrete walks and retaining walls with subgrade utility and storm drainage.
In August 13, 2011 the original Meadows of Dan Elementary School was destroyed by a fire. New Atlantic will construct a new 31,760 square foot, 2 story school building designed by RRMM Architects based in Chesapeake, Virginia and will connect this new structure to the existing structure.
