Long Beach Author Raises Money for Charity While Launching Her Book on Online Branding
Long Beach author Carma Spence is helping local business owners brand themselves online while raising funds for the Unstoppable Foundation.
Long Beach, CA, June 21, 2013 --(PR.com)-- Long Beach author Carma Spence is helping local business owners brand themselves online while raising funds for a worthwhile cause. To launch her latest book, "57 Secrets for Branding Yourself Online," Spence is creating a combination live and online promotion that will raise funds for the Unstoppable Foundation.
"I was inspired by another author who used her book launch to raise money for her favorite charity," said Spence. "And, at first I was going to follow her model and just do the promotion online. But thanks to the encouragement of Marie Green, owner of Curves Long Beach East, I decided to hold my first live book launch, as well."
The book launch and fundraiser, which will be held at Curves Long Beach East on July 14, 2013, will include both a traditional book signing, as well as a 90-minute workshop on how to brand your business online. Attendees will also have the opportunity to win door prizes, network with like-minded, local business owners and to contribute further to the Unstoppable Foundation.
For those who cannot attend the event, there is still a way to contribute to the fundraiser, which seeks to raise enough money ($8,500) to build a schoolhouse. Anyone who purchases the book between now and Dec. 31, 2013 from Amazon.com or BarnesAndNoble.com can register their purchase at CarmaSpence.com/57secrets to have $2 donated to the campaign. If they wish to do more, they can also go to https://donate.arighttolearn.org/e/57secrets and donate any amount directly to this campaign.
"I chose the Unstoppable Foundation for three reasons," Spence said. "One, I've worked with them for a few years now and know that they do good work. Two, the funds I'm raising will go toward a community in Kenya, where I lived when I was very little. And three -- the most important reason for me -- I'm doing it to honor my little sister, who was born in Kenya and died early in May."
The Unstoppable Foundation raises money to support life-changing education for children in need, and helps provide entire communities with access to clean water and sanitation, food and nutrition, basic healthcare and education for parents to earn an income.
"I come from a family of educators," said Spence, "so raising money for education is a natural for me. The idea of building a schoolhouse in Kenya in memory of my little sister gives me goosebumps!"
Fifty percent of the live event's proceeds plus $2 of book purchases will go to Spence's Unstoppable Foundation campaign. Although, no book purchase is required to attend the event. Tickets are $5 (plus fees) in advance through 57secrets.splashthat.com, or $10 at the door. The book is $15.
57 Secrets for Branding Yourself Online is published by Logical Expressions, Inc. as part of their "57 Secrets" series, launched early last year.
The Book Launch and Fundraising event on July 14, 2013, starts 2:30 and ends at 6:30pm. Registration opens at 2pm. Light refreshments will be served.
