SHOP AMERICAN SATURDAY is a non-divisive celebration which will promote awareness and accessibility of American Made goods for consumers of all economic means and personal interest.
Los Angeles, CA, June 21, 2013 --(PR.com)-- SHOP AMERICAN on Saturday, June 29, 2013
In an effort to encourage the patronage of American Made brands, products and to further commercial activity surrounding patriotic holidays, the inaugural SHOP AMERICAN SATURDAY will take place on Saturday, June 29, 2013.
“SHOP AMERICAN SATURDAY is a non-divisive celebration which will promote awareness and accessibility of American Made goods for consumers of all economic means and personal interest,” said SHOP AMERICAN SATURDAY creator and producer Stephen Hall.
There has been an increase in advocacy for buying American Made with the revitalization movement of domestic manufacturing showing renewed growth in recent years. The majority of the commercial activity and marketing outreach is centered around traditional retail cycles or gift-giving holidays. In many cases operation costs are higher and margins are lower for American Made brands, limiting their ability to be competitive during these traditional events. From a marketing and distribution standpoint, focusing on alternative and off-peak events will be more conducive to continued growth.
“We want to promote everyday consumer purchases, especially around National and Patriotic holidays. SHOP AMERICAN SATURDAY events will amplify the American Made conversation and help bolster commercial activity by providing an opportunity for diverse consumer audiences to discover and support American Made businesses,” said Hall.
How to Participate | Shoppers & Members:
Consumers will ultimately drive the awareness and accessibility of American Made goods. Shoppers are encouraged to sign up for our newsletter or follow us on social media to stay updated on offers from participating businesses and events in their area. Brands selling American Made goods or products can join us and help show their support by joining as a Participant or Sponsor.
Events:
In addition to individual businesses holding events online and in-store, the SHOP AMERICAN SATURDAY Market & Music Festival will take place on Saturday, June 29, 2013 from 11am-8pm. Taking place near “America’s Port” in Los Angeles, it will be hosted by CRAFTED at the Port of Los Angeles. The event will coincide with the one-year anniversary of CRAFTED LA and in addition to the nearly one hundred resident vendors and thousands of shoppers each weekend, SHOP AMERICAN SATURDAY will introduce a new selection of vendors and performers specifically for the inaugural event.
“There will be American Made goods from local artisans and merchants. We have very strong entertainment line-up scheduled, with some of the best hip-hop vocalists around in Blu and Nocando, a new project called SELFISH from Grammy winning keyboardist Isaiah “Ikey” Owens and Mainey Wilson, as well as performances from SUM as our MC with a few other local artists throughout the day. Attendance is free for all ages and there is plenty of free parking nearby,” said Hall.
In addition to the Market & Music Festival, there will be a food truck cook off with the Hamburger “Throw Down,” beverages for all ages featuring local craft beer from San Pedro Brewing Company and a selection of wines from some local small-run wineries by Off The Vine. Also, the Long Beach Derby Gals will make an appearance and there will be many more interactive and educational exhibits to entertain. There will be other Americana celebrations nearby at the Port of Los Angeles, where they will also host an anniversary celebration for the permanent residency of the USS Iowa Battleship.
Giving Back | Veterans Initiative:
As the celebration encourages commercial activity, SHOP AMERICAN SATURDAY wants to encourage community support as well. As part of the festivities in Los Angeles, there will be a Veterans Clothing Drive and Raffle where guests can donate an item of wearable clothing in exchange for a Raffle ticket and a chance to win an American Made item from SHOP AMERICAN SATURDAY Vendors and Sponsors.
