Community Cafe Brews Up Plans for Summer Opening
Saint Petersburg, FL, June 21, 2013 --(PR.com)-- If you could help create a new sandwich at your favorite cafe, what would be on it? If your new home-away-from-home was throwing a party in your honor, what would the theme be?
These are two of the many ways that you can become a part of Community Cafe, a new collaborative cafe opening in St. Pete. They want you to help create a place you’ll love, joining with the community to reflect the diverse wants and needs of our city.
“One thing we’ve noticed about St. Pete lately is a shortage of low-key, late night options, especially those that serve food,” founder Mandy Keyes says. “It’s even more noticeable for vegetarians, who have really limited options past 9pm.”
Community Cafe will be open from lunch through late night, serving coffee, tea, beer, and wine. Their sandwiches and wraps will use local produce, and there will be many vegetarian and vegan options on the menu.
Mandy thinks one of most exciting aspects of the Community Cafe is the membership program. “Basically, we’re going to have two levels, Rockstar and Superstar, which come with various perks like discounts, free drinks, and access to a small lending library. But most importantly, it also comes with voting privileges. Our next sandwich, special event, or art show theme - all of that is voted on by our members.”
The cafe wants to unite the community through local music, local art, and other events. They’re already a member of Keep Saint Petersburg Local, an organization aimed at promoting local businesses. KSPL founder and president Olga Bof says, "We've been excited about the Community Cafe opening in our city ever since we learned about them and are incredibly proud and honored to have them as one of the awesome members of our Independent Business Alliance. Their concept embodies everything that we champion - a locally-owned, independent business that is so weaved into the fabric of our community that it could not be known by any other name than the Community Cafe. Let's help get them open as soon as possible!"
The Community Cafe team is working on opening the cafe by late summer. They’re actively scouting potential locations in downtown St. Pete, ideally on or near Central Ave, and need your help. They’ve set up a crowd funding campaign to raise funds to start “bigger, better, and closer to downtown.” If you want to create your own sandwich, have a party thrown in your honor, or simply pick up a new coffee mug, check out their Indiegogo page.
