Drag Nuns to Take Over Long Beach Night Club to Raise Money for SoCal LGBT Veterans and Service Members
2nd Annual LGBT Military Ball planned for 4th of July Weekend at Club Ripples in Long Beach, CA.
West Hollywood, CA, June 21, 2013 --(PR.com)-- The Los Angeles Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence (LA-SPI) have selected to hold their 2nd Annual LGBT Military Ball at Club Ripples in Long Beach, CA over the 4th of July weekend.
This colorful fundraiser is the continuation of “Mari’s Military Ballz, An LA-SPI Celebration of Men & Women in Uniform” which was held the previous year at Oil Can Harry’s in Studio City, CA. The 2012 LGBT Military Ball brought together agencies from all over the LA Basin for a night of festive fundraising honoring those who served and continue to serve in the Nation’s Armed Services.
“There are many LGBT Veterans and Service Members throughout Southern California who were discharged under DADT, or are traumatized by the experiences they faced and as a result never received a proper Thank You for their Service. My Sisters and I organized this annual event to give those individuals at least one night where they can feel safe, and welcomed by the community, and at the same time raise awareness for the problems they are be facing,” said Sister Mariposa Patriota, the event organizer.
This year LA-SPI has teamed up with Club Ripples in Long Beach, CA to bring this event to even more LGBT Veterans and Service Members in Southern California. Sister Mariposa, aided by her team of dedicated Nuns, is currently working with celebrities and agencies from all corners of Southern California to make this year bigger and better than the previous year. DJ Hazmat of Long Beach, CA and DJ Head Trauma of Torrance, CA will be headlining as the Guest DJs, and local female impersonator Brazil Noreaga (an Army Veteran) will be performing a special midnight tribute performance. All the proceeds from this event will be going to this year’s beneficiaries: the Greater Los Angeles Chapter of American Veterans for Equal Rights (AVER-GLA) and the Southern California Chapter of OutServe-SLDN. Some of this year’s sponsors include Club Ripples, Long Beach Lesbian and Gay Pride, National Veterans Foundation, SPUNK Lube, RobbyMendez.com, DJ Hazmat, DJ Headtrauma, Brazil Noreaga, and many more to be revealed as we get closer.
