WellSpring Oncology Patient Helps Celebrate Second Year of Prestigious Accreditation
Joel Barnes explains how standards of excellence are applied at the Pinellas cancer treatment facility.
Pinellas Park, FL, June 22, 2013 --(PR.com)-- Pinellas cancer treatment center, WellSpring Oncology, is celebrating its second anniversary since earning the prestigious American College of Radiology (ACR) Accreditation in Radiation Oncology. The accolade is provided to radiation therapy centers that exceed safety and quality standards after rigorous, impartial peer reviews and evaluations of patient care. WellSpring Oncology patient and prostate cancer survivor, Joel Barnes, 56, knows how important these standards are.
“The meticulous methods, quality standards and desire to excel that WellSpring Oncology possesses are unparalleled,” says Barnes. “They provide this professional, expert standard of care, but still remain completely human, compassionately treating every patient like family. This combination is truly rare in medical facilities these days.”
To receive the ACR Accreditation, the Pinellas cancer treatment center’s personnel, equipment, treatment planning and records, as well as patient safety policies and quality control activities are evaluated. Only those who meet strict criteria receive the accreditation.
Barnes experienced the Pinellas cancer treatment center’s standards of care after being diagnosed in April 2012. After surgery, a routine check up resulted in irregular test results and a referral to WellSpring Oncology.
“My doctor told me great things about their approach, their treatment and the facility,” says Barnes. “I did some research, reading about the physicians and listening to other doctors talk about them and ultimately, the decision to receive treatment at WellSpring Oncology was clear. I’m glad to be around now to help raise my grandkids and I credit WellSpring for helping me get here.”
As the nation’s oldest and most widely accepted accrediting body in radiation oncology, the ACR continues to adapt its standards to improve patient care.
