July 14th Fundraiser to Support Child with Paralyzing Syndrome
Brooklyn Park, MN, July 01, 2013 --(PR.com)-- Team Tell is announcing a very important fundraiser for Sunday, July 14th, 2013 from 3:00 pm-8:00 pm, at Palmer Lake VFW to raise much needed funds to support Tell Solberg & his family in his battle against OMS.
On April 24th, 2013, Baby Jonathan "Tell" was diagnosed with Opsoclonus Myoclonus Ataxia Syndrome (OMS) at the young age of 20 months old. OMS is a very rare auto-immune neurological disorder affecting 1 in 10,000,000 (60-80 children). The symptoms of OMS include rapid, involuntary eye movements, involuntary muscle twitches, impaired speech, lethargy and irritability. In Tell’s case, it made an average toddler revert back to an infantile state. There is no known definitive cause, no known decisive cure, and medical knowledge of OMS is limited.
The Solberg family’s journey is just beginning. Tell’s current treatment plan includes very expensive medications to help stop his immune system from attacking his brain and outpatient therapy to help him to regain his strength, coordination and speech. Even after his current symptoms are treated, there will be relapses and the possibility of learning and behavioral issues throughout his life. Tell has a long road ahead of him.
To help Tell and the Solberg’s in their fight against OMS and to help them overcome the financial hardships that OMS has brought with it, Team Tell along with the support of the Child Neurology Foundation, is launching a Spaghetti Dinner fundraiser on Sunday, July 14th from 3:00pm-8:00pm at Palmer Lake VFW.
The Palmer Lake VFW will be providing free space for the fundraiser, while other companies, friends and family have stepped forward to offer raffle and silent auction items including an iPad 2, and a 4-in-1 Combo Grill. Further details on raffle and silent auction items can be found on Tell’s fundraising site: www.teamtell.weebly.com. Dinner tickets will be available at the door for $12/adult & $7/child. Discounted pre-sale dinner tickets are available for purchase on the website for $10/adult & $5/child. Raffle tickets will be available for $5 each, 3/$12 or 6/$20. The event will also include music, games and tons of fun. All proceeds from the event will go to The Solberg Family.
Team Tell has also set up a separate Facebook page for the event where supporters can post and RSVP: https://www.facebook.com/events/167318340106381/
The Solberg’s have been through so much already! Help Team Tell in supporting Tell in his fight against OMS and help his family overcome the financial hardships that OMS has brought with it by attending the event at the Palmer Lake VFW.
