Springdale, AR, August 26, 2007 --(PR.com)-- The Education Station, Northwest Arkansas's teacher store, will publish reproducible Arkansas History units for grades kindergarten through sixth this fall. In spite of recent controversy over changes in the state frameworks, state law still requires the teaching of a unit of Arkansas History each year from kindergarten through 6th grade.
Arkansas teachers face frustration in following through on this requirement, since teaching materials for elementary and middle school are very limited. This is the need that The Education Station intends to address with their forthcoming series of reproducible teaching units.
The covers will use student artwork. The Education Station is conducting a contest for schoolchildren in the area. Students from kindergarten through sixth grade are asked to design an image using the shape of the state to show the spirit of Arkansas.
All two-dimensional media are welcome, from drawings to metalwork or fiber art.
The winning design(s) will be used on the book covers, and the winner's classroom will receive a $25 gift certificate to The Education Station.
All K-6 students are eligible, including homeschool, private, and public school students. The deadline is September 15th.
The complete rules of the contest are available at The Education Station in Ozark Center Point Place, at the Education Station website (educationstationteachers.com), or at Dexter's Discoveries (xanga.com/dextr).
