Kinesis Survey Technologies’ Mobile Survey Traffic Rates Show Notable Growth in Europe
Updated whitepaper provides comparative data from the past year detailing the usage of mobile devices among market research participants in Europe and the U.S.
Austin, TX, June 27, 2013 --(PR.com)-- Kinesis Survey Technologies LLC (Kinesis), the industry leader for future-proof market research software solutions, has published a second update to its whitepaper entitled Online Survey Statistics from the Mobile Future.
This latest version includes detailed Q1 2013 statistics about Kinesis’ online survey platform usage, and specifically the incidence at which various traffic metrics now occur on mobile devices versus desktop devices. Q1 and Q3 2012 data published in the previous versions of the whitepaper remain and are provided for comparative analysis. While survey participation via mobile devices fell in the U.S. since the last publication, a notable increase continued to occur in the European region, rising from 4.07% in Q1 2012 to 9.69% in Q1 2013.
“In Europe Kinesis’ mobile survey traffic continued to rise steadily and survey completion rates also increased for nearly every type of mobile browser,” said Tariq Mirza, Kinesis’ Managing Director of Europe. “Although overall percentages in Europe still trail the U.S. by a significant margin, the latest data indicate that mobile devices are becoming a true standard for market research studies in the region.”
Mobile survey traffic declined in the U.S. for the first time since Kinesis began tracking this data back in 2003 (from 30.74% in Q3 2012 to 26.26% in Q1 2013), which could be an anomaly, or be indicative that researchers are continuing to lag behind in programming mobile usability into their fielding studies that are generally intended for desktop respondents. Kinesis will continue to track the data and report future findings publicly.
As the leading mobile and multi-mode survey software provider, Kinesis publishes its data primarily as a predictor of what the market research industry as a whole will likely experience as mobile usage continues to play a significant role in online survey research. The whitepaper also addresses how the current lack of mobile device support may be biasing online research studies. Statistics detailed in the whitepaper were compiled based upon metadata from all survey traffic hosted on Kinesis’ SaaS infrastructure during the specified time periods. Traffic breakouts are provided by device type, browser type, and geographic region. Also included are data relative to completion and dropout rates by device.
