Coming in Raleigh Metro Magazine in September: Cheshire Times Two
Duke lacrosse defense attorney Joe Cheshire explains NC's Open Discover law while Joe VI produces surfing videos from Wrightsville Beach
Raleigh, NC, August 30, 2007 --(PR.com)-- Exclusive father-son features on the famous Cheshire family in Raleigh headline Metro Magazine’s September edition, which will be available on newsstands September 1.
Joe Cheshire, who made international headlines as the central defense attorney in the Duke lacrosse case, gave Metro writer Sharon Swanson an exclusive interview to discuss North Carolina’s Open Discovery law, which forces prosecutors to share their entire file with defendants before trial. Through Cheshire’s own words, readers witness how the defense team used the law to detonate disgraced Durham, NC, prosecutor's entire case against the lacrosse players, who were falsely accused of rape and sexual assault.
In the same edition, Joe Cheshire VI, son of the famed lawyer, is featured. Young Joe bucked a five-generation tradition of Cheshire lawyers to devote his life to surfing, and turned that passion into an international surfing video business based in Wrightsville Beach, NC.
Also in Metro’s September edition: an exclusive of a nationally sanctioned garden tour in Raleigh; former UNC-Wilmington chancellor Jim Leutze – a regular columnist in the monthly magazine – looks at the rising sea levels on the North Carolina coast, and Patricia Staino interviews Rosemary Wyche, founder of a new school in the Triangle that teaches executives protocol to enhance their skills in today’s global marketplace.
Also in the September issue, Metro’s New York based fashion editor Molly Fulghum-Heintz uncovers the latest fashions from New York City runways; Liza Roberts reports on “green” weddings”, innovative venues and customized details available to new brides. Design editor Diane Lea offers a sneak preview of new upscale condos in North Hills and an elegant home in Chapel Hill.
Metro’s book reviewer Arch T. Allen reports on the making of the conservative mind; fiction editor Art Taylor covers the fall season’s latest crop of fiction titles and book signings; music critic Phillip van Vleck discovers the unique yet traditional sounds of Carolina Chocolate Drops, Food editor Moreton Neal investigates where to find true Southern grits, and wine critic Barbara Ensrud explains the mysteries of “breathing.”
The September issue includes information on the first annual MetroBravo! Party to be held September 27, from 6-10 p.m. at the Koka Booth Amphitheatre at Regency Park in Cary, NC. The party will feature booths and displays presented by the magazine’s 2007 readers’ poll winners - published in the July and August editions - including food, beverages and live musical entertainment. (Tickets are available through Ticketmaster or by calling Metro at 919-831-0999.)
Established in 1999, Metro Magazine is a four-color city/regional publication serving Raleigh, the Research Triangle and Eastern North Carolina with a circulation of 40,000.
