Baltimore, MD, July 02, 2013 --(PR.com)-- On Friday June 21, 2013 Black Transmen, Inc met with the FBI to educate the agency about creating an inclusive work space. As the national non-profit organization met with local Baltimore bureau members, the lunch and chat was simultaneously broadcasted to FBI satellite offices as far as San Juan, Puerto Rico.

Black Transmen, Inc. educated the FBI about the critical issues facing transgender people. Helping the agency understand the importance of using inclusive language in their non-discrimination policy was one of the take home messages. The presenters explained the difference between gender and sex, sexual orientation and gender identity.

Black Transmen, Inc. also offered solutions on how to create a welcoming, inclusive workplace starting with intentionally partnering with local transgender organizations to tap into the unique talent pool of the transgender community, using inclusive language such as preferred name, preferred gender pronoun on agency forms, and choosing healthcare providers who pay for the medical needs of this marginalized community.

The Lunch and Chat proved to be very helpful to those who attended and started a very important dialogue specifically addressing discrimination, healthcare needs and how to improve the relationship between law enforcement and the transgender community.
