LVDT Signal Conditioner- SC-100
Moorestown, NJ, June 30, 2013 --(PR.com)-- Alliance Sensors Group Introduces the World’s Most Advanced Industrial Grade AC-LVDT Signal Conditioner
SC-100 DIN rail module reduces setup time to just minutes while offering digital communications.
Alliance Sensors Group introduces the SC-100 DIN-rail mountable AC-LVDT Signal Conditioner module that offers smart and fast LVDT setup with built-in null indication and simple front panel pushbuttons to set zero and full scale. The SC-100 is engineered to work with the widest range of AC-operated LVDTs, RVDTs, and inductive half-bridge position sensors. It was specifically designed to be compatible with both Marposs and Solartron analog pencil gaging probes.
The SC-100 offers a choice of:
· Power inputs from 15-30 V DC
· 4 LVDT excitation frequencies: 2.5, 5.0, 7.5, and 10.0 KHz
· 6 analog DC outputs: 0 -5, 0 -10, +/-10, 0.5 - 4.5, 1- 5, 0.5 - 9.5 VDC
· 2 current loop DC outputs: 4-20 mA or 0-20 mA (sourcing)
· RS-485 digital communications link with an available GUI
· Self-diagnostics for LVDT winding failures or cable disconnection.
· Factory standard two year warranty
In the past, AC-operated LVDT linear and RVDT rotary position sensors were fairly difficult to calibrate with traditional signal conditioners because they required an operator to adjust trimmer pots and/or set jumpers. With an Alliance Sensors SC-100 AC-LVDT Signal Conditioner, an internal microprocessor eliminates the need to calculate jumper settings for gain, range, etc. The operator simply finds LVDT null, moves the LVDT's core to one end of the range and then presses the zero button on the front panel. The operator moves the LVDT's core to the other end of the specified range and presses the full scale button. The SC-100 is now fully calibrated with the LVDT or RVDT position sensor.
“The SC-100 reduces AC-LVDT calibration time by a factor of 10,” notes John Matlack, VP of Sales and Marketing, Alliance Sensors Group. “With its built-in null indicator and smart setup using two front panel pushbuttons, the SC-100 can be calibrated to work with virtually any standard LVDT in the marketplace.”
The new SC-100 DIN rail module features an RS-485 digital communications port, which permits a unit to be setup remotely using a computer or terminal, simplifying operations if the unit is already mounted on a DIN-rail in a cabinet. Furthermore, if the initial calibration data was saved in a computer via this RS-485 port, another SC-100 can be “hot swapped” into an existing installation and then reloaded with the original calibration data. Ordinary AC-LVDT signal conditioners would require a complete recalibration process.
For installations where there are multiple LVDT position sensors, the SC-100s can be master/slaved to prevent beat frequency interaction between sensor signals. Should a master fail, ordinary LVDT signal conditioners in a master/slave hookup will revert back to their own oscillators, subjecting them to the beat frequencies the master/slave hook up was supposed to prevent. If an SC-100 master module were to fail, the auto-mastering feature causes another module to immediately become a new master for the slaves.
Besides the SC-100 signal conditioners, Alliance Sensor Group also offers a line of heavy duty LVDTs for power plants, industrial manufacturing, and process control applications.
