"Street Skins" Launched as London-Based Art Project by "Oysterskins" Goes Live on Kickstarter
Oysterskins is launching its ''Platform 6'' project on Kickstarter featuring 6 artists in 6 months on swipe card skins.
London, United Kingdom, July 01, 2013 --(PR.com)-- Today “Oysterskins” unleash their limited edition range of “Street Skins” by London graffiti artist “Dep.” These 4 dope designs aim to brighten up the daily commute of people living in London. All 4 unique artworks are printed on specially-shaped vinyl to fit perfectly on an Oyster Card (or any other bare naked swipe card in need of a re-spray).
“We’re putting the ‘underground’ on the Underground," said Oysterskins’ co-founder David Priestly. “Londoners won’t have to walk around like robots anymore with their identical boring blue travel cards. Now they can pimp their Oysters and make them their own.”
The 4 new graffiti style “Street Skins” are the forerunner for Oysterskins’ new “Platform 6½” project – now live on Kickstarter – that will feature 6 up-and-coming London artists making designs that they can distribute via their website: www.oysterskins.co.uk
Every month during “Platform 6½” a new artist’s collection will be available – but only for one month. Dave Priestly said: “If you want to snap up a work by the next Banksy or Emin or Hirst, you better move fast before the designs are discontinued. These unique works are going to become highly collectible in the future – who knows what they might be worth.”
The “Street Skins” are now available as rewards on kickstarter for anyone who wants to contribute to the “Platform 6½” project and help get it rolling. These will be discontinued at the end of July.
Dep, the artist behind the “Street Skins,” is also known as Rick Walker of Paintshop Studio fame. He’s been part of the London graffiti scene for almost 20 years.
Oysterskins are specially-shaped vinyl skins designed to fit perfectly on your Oyster Card – or any swipe card. They won’t affect your chip.
