In Lieu of a 4th of July Weekend Sale, AMY O. Jewelry Will Donate a Percentage of Sales to Women Veterans and Families Network.
New York, NY, July 04, 2013 --(PR.com)-- Typically retailers will entice customers with sales over Independence Day weekend, one of the biggest email marketing times of the year. That’s what AMY O. Jewelry would usually be doing, too.
This year, however, the brand is doing something different. Instead of offering their usual holiday discount to customers, AMY O. Jewelry is donating 20 percent of sales from July 3rd to July 7th to Women Veterans and Families Network (WVFN). WVFN is a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering, supporting and promoting the welfare of women veterans and military families.
Women veterans and their families are an underserved community in the United States. Unemployment among post-9/11 women veterans has risen to 19.9 percent. Loss of funding in education and the public sector– traditionally areas where returning women veterans have sought work – have impacted the availability of jobs for women veterans. Additionally, less than 30% of the 3.5 million private sector jobs added to the economy in recent years have gone to women.
Founded by a woman entrepreneur, AMY O. Jewelry is run by a team of women who feel strongly about using their resources to support other women. “We want to remind people of the history behind Independence Day, as well as help the women in our community whose sacrifices have benefited this country,” says Alexandra Shook, Social Media Coordinator for AMY O.
