Registration Now Open for the Oakland’s First Dragon Boat Racing Festival
Oakland Renegades to host the inaugural 2-day festival and race.
Oakland, CA, July 09, 2013 --(PR.com)-- The Oakland Renegades Dragon Boat Team proudly announces that registration is now open for the first ever Oakland Dragon Boat Festival on August 10-11, 2013 at Lake Merritt in Oakland. This 2-day racing event will be the Pacific Dragon Boat Association Regional Championship and Club Crew World Championships Qualifier to determine who will be representing the United States from this region at the 2014 International Dragon Boat Festival Club Crew World Championships in Ravenna, Italy.
"We are pleased to be bring this race to Oakland and showcase beautiful Lake Merritt," says Oakland Renegades Team Captain, Mike O'Meara. "Not only will this race show off the lake, it will also boost revenue for local businesses in the area that weekend. This is a great win-win event for the dragon boat community, as well as the City of Oakland."
The Oakland Renegades will be hosting the Oakland Dragon Boat Festival in conjunction with the Oakland Parks and Recreation Department. Teams will be participating from California, Washington, Oregon and as far away as Arizona for this 2-day event. Racing starts at 8:00am and runs through 4:00pm both Saturday and Sunday. The Oakland Dragon Boat Festival is free and open to the public.
The Oakland Renegades are based out of Oakland at the Boat House on Lake Merritt. Their goal is to introduce the sport of dragon boating to anyone who is interested and to have a competitive team that can compete at local, national and international dragon boat races.
