Matt Wallace Promoted to Director of Projects at the Heights Center in Fort Myers

The Heights Foundation announces that Matt Wallace has been promoted to the position of Director of Projects at the Heights Center, a Cultural Arts and Community Center in the Harlem Heights neighborhood. Wallace is responsible for recruitment and coordination of volunteers, donor relations & database management, grants, event and program logistics including annual School Supply, Thanksgiving and Christmas outreaches.

Fort Myers, FL, July 11, 2013 --(PR.com)-- The Heights Foundation announces that Matt Wallace has been promoted to the position of Director of Projects at the Heights Center, a Cultural Arts and Community Center in the Harlem Heights neighborhood. Wallace is responsible for recruitment and coordination of volunteers, donor relations & database management, grants, event and program logistics including annual School Supply, Thanksgiving and Christmas outreaches.

Before joining the Heights Center, Wallace was president of the Greater McLean, Virginia Chamber of Commerce. He also served as a Vice President & private client banker with SunTrust and Fifth Third Banks in Southwest Florida.
He was president of the Estero Rotary in 2003 and 2004 and led service initiatives benefiting Southwest Florida. Wallace was also an active member of the Bonita Springs Chamber of Commerce and volunteered with Junior Achievement. A native of the Chicago suburbs, he and his wife Bronwyn have two children and are avid sports fans.

Harlem Heights was originally settled as a rural agricultural community. Approximately 1,200 children live in a mixture of single-family homes and multi-family apartments. Demographically, the population is approximately 55% Hispanic, 36% African-American, and 9% Caucasian. The poverty rate for children in Harlem Heights is more than twice the county average, with family income 40% below the county average. Families are not able to easily access family support services located in downtown Fort Myers, and benefit greatly from programs located within the neighborhood.
