New Year's Benefit Concert in Chicago for Katrina Victims
Family affected by Hurricane Katrina and pediatric cancer receive special holiday miracle funded by a New Year’s Zydeco Concert and Benefit in Chicago. Bear Necessities Pediatric Cancer Foundation, a Chicago-based organization, helps make miracles come true for Chimento Family.
Chicago, IL, December 27, 2005 --(PR.com)-- Dwayne Dopsie and the Zydeco Hellraisers are coming to Chicago for a New Year's Zydeco Bash at the Blue Bayou benefiting Katrina vicitims struggling with pediatric cancer. Part of the proceeds will benefit Bear Necessities Pediatric Cancer Foundation and its Katrina Relief Fund. Notably, one particular family relocated to Dallas will recieve a special holiday gift thanks to funds raised.
A family displaced by Hurricane Katrina and struck with the news of their 10-year-old son’s diagnosis of leukemia will receive a unique holiday gift from Bear Necessities Pediatric Cancer Foundation (Bear Necessities: www.bearnecessities.org).
The Chimento Family relocated to Dallas from New Orleans following Hurricane Katrina. On their arrival in Dallas their youngest son, Drew, was diagnosed with leukemia and taken to Medical City Children’s Hospital for treatment. When Bear Necessities discovered the Chimento’s holiday aspirations to return to New Orleans in early June for their eldest son’s High School graduation or to be reunited with their extended family in Phoenix later this year, the Foundation decided to make both miracles come true! Bear Necessities who will be the charity to receive a portion on the proceeds from the New Year’s Eve Zydeco Bash will use this funding to not only facilitate the Chimento’s Small Miracle but continue to reach out to children right here in our backyard who are bravely battling pediatric cancer. Pediatric cancer remains the number one cause of death by disease in our children.
Bear Necessities knows that the best way to continue to help those affected by the Hurricane is to bring a little bit of New Orleans to Chicago. To that end, Bear Necessities is thrilled to welcome Dwayne Dopsie and the Zydeco Hellraisers, an incredible Zydeco-Funk band from New Orleans to the Blue Bayou on New Year’s Eve. The Hellraisers is one of New Orleans best live bands; their energy and showmanship have been compared to Maceo Parker and Fred Wesley, formerly the horn section for James Brown. It will be a great time and a terrific way to support this family in need. Tickets cost $125 and include an open bar all night, food, and most importantly a $50 donation to Bear Necessities Pediatric Cancer Foundation and its Katrina Relief efforts. Doors open at 8PM.
To order tickets to the event please visit our website at www.bearnecessities.org, or call 312-836-BEAR.
Bear Necessities Pediatric Cancer Foundation is a national organization with the mission “To eliminate pediatric cancer and to provide hope and support to those who are touched by it.”
