Saint-Gobain Seals Group’s Oil and Gas Market Brochure Selected as Winner of 2013 American Inhouse Design Award
Garden Grove, CA, July 14, 2013 --(PR.com)-- The new Oil and Gas market brochure from Saint-Gobain Performance Plastics, Seals Group, has been recognized with a 2013 American Inhouse Design Award. For 50 years, the design competition –sponsored by Graphic Design USA (GDUSA), a business-to-business magazine for graphic design professionals – has showcased the outstanding work of in-house design, marketing and communications departments at corporations, non-profits, publishers, government agencies and universities. In 2013, for the sixth straight year, the competition featured more than 4,000 entries ranging from Fortune 500 companies to startups, from local communities to federal government agencies, from small colleges to major research universities, and from the most influential associations and non-profits in the country, of which a very selective 15 percent were declared winners.
The Oil and Gas market brochure was designed by Creative Services, Saint-Gobain’s in-house design agency based in Valley Forge, Pa., who has worked with the Saint-Gobain brand for over 30 years and whose services include virtually everything within the realm of marketing communications. The brochure won in the category of “Brochures + Collateral” and is one of the four new market brochures Creative Services developed for the Seals Group, including their other key markets: Automotive, Life Sciences and Aerospace. All of the market brochures feature a 3D illustration, application images and distinct color scheme. Due to entry regulations that stipulated a certain timeframe in which the brochures were created, Creative Services was unable to submit the complete brochure series. Aside from the four market brochures, the Seals Group has worked closely with Creative Services to create other new marketing materials such as product handbooks, posters and advertorials in order to reinforce their new branding and identity.
There are several important benefits of an in-house agency such as their depth of understanding of the business’ brand and challenges as well as their familiarity with the business’ process and history. The American Inhouse Design Awards provides a unique opportunity for design departments to be recognized for their creativity, for the special challenges they face, and for their contributions to their respective businesses and institutions. The competition is widely recognized as the original and most prominent program for in-house designers and their departments.
Rebecca Phan, Seals Group Marketing Coordinator, said, “As a new marketing member of the Seals Group tasked with building and defining our new branding and corporate identity, I needed a strong partner who was willing to invest in our long-term goals and promote our vision. From the beginning of my collaborative and motivating conversations with Creative Services staff members Tamara Mueller; Manager, Account/Business Relations; and Kristin Dankanich, Creative Director, they clearly understood the important role and impact our new marketing materials would have in the future. It was crucial to establish a support system early on so that we could successfully build a strong branding foundation. The decision to go in-house has produced many positive and tangible results including this award.”
Dankanich, who submitted the entry on the Seals Group’s behalf, said, “I feel the selection committee was impressed with the Oil and Gas market brochure because it showed clear and concise messaging and achieved an appropriate tone visually. With the brighter color palate, the piece evoked a connection with imagery that has not been done before in this group’s communications. I feel that this award celebrates the collaborative nature that has developed between Creative Services and the Seals Group. I don’t consider them a customer but rather a partner. We are proud that they trust in and rely on us to tackle their marketing and communication projects.”
Added Mueller, “Working in close partnership with the Seals Group has allowed us to be more expressive with our design. The collaboration between the group and our department makes it fun to turn out great work. We are pleased to be recognized on this project.”
Aside from the award for the Seals Group’s market brochure, Creative Services submitted other winning entries on behalf of a number of Saint-Gobain business units. Saint-Gobain Process Systems and Saint-Gobain Proppants won 2013 Inhouse Design Awards for their Tygon S3™ tubing sample kit and SPE 2012 trade show exhibit and theme logo, respectively. Creative Services has been honored in the past with accolades, which include design of the Saint-Gobain Corporate Communications display kiosks that were featured at the 2011 AIA (American Institute of Architects) Show, the 2012 NOVA External Venturing Competition website and the Employee Annual Report, among others.
