Stockton, CA, August 29, 2007 --(PR.com)-- The Groovenators consist of Shad Harris on vocals and keytar; Gary Hamilton on guitar, tenor sax, and vocals; Dave Peters on drums; and Myron Pipkin on bass. They will be playing this Saturday, September 1st, 2007, 9:30 pm at The Saloon, 1232 Grant Street (between Columbus and Vallejo in the scenic heart of North Beach), San Francisco, CA 94133 (415) 989-7666. *The Bay Bridge will be closed that weekend, so you will have to use either the San Mateo or Golden Gate Bridge to get over to North Beach.
Yes, Shad is back and after playing mostly drums, but also, his share of guitar, bass, keyboards, and even some real blues harmonica, for 25 years in and around Northern California with the best bands around, Shad Harris became the original drummer for the Tommy Castro Band. He spent over five years with Tommy. And alas, in Ocotober 2000 Shad suffered a serious stroke. For the last seven years, Shad has been on the rehab and recovery trail. After a couple of years of therapy he regained limited use of his hands and his longtime friend Gary Hamilton encouraged him to pursue a comeback by playing keyboard in his band "Hambone."
Shad's abilities were limited at first but Gary and a few other close friends were supportive and the gig schedule was just enough and little by little Shad's keyboard chops got better. Shad then discovered the Roland AX-7 Keytar. In early 2007 Shad met with Gary Hamilton, Artis Joyce, and Dave Peters and asked them to join with him to form "The Groovenators." The Groovenators are a funky, soulful, swinging, West Coast Blues Band based in California's Big Central Valley. Shad is the bandleader but the band is a testament to True, Honest, Loyal, Friendship. The band's motto is: There is no "I" in band and their mission statement is: "To Protect and Serve The Groove."
