Opening & Closing Night Galas Announced for Topanga Film Festival

Topanga, CA, July 18, 2013 --(PR.com)-- Social impact films to bookend a strong Documentary Competition.

The 9th Annual Topanga Film Festival (July 18-21) boasts a world-class slate, with exceptional documentaries bookending the Festival. As with the 2012 event, the Festival is heavily weighted towards social impact films and is co-presented by Topanga Film Institute and CineCause.

"This Festival exists to present the community with an exciting combination of socially relevant films, engaging panel discussions, and unique special events. The 2013 edition is certain to inspire and entertain,” says Festival Director, Jon Fitzgerald.

Both Opening and Closing Night Galas will take place at the glorious Theatricum Botanicum, a spectacular outdoor amphitheater in the heart of Topanga.

TFF kicks off the Festival with multiple award-winner, Elemental, July 18th. The event begins with a reception at 7:00pm, followed by the film. On July 21st, the Festival will close with Char, another film popular with juries, most recently a Jury Prize winner at the Social Impact Media Awards. The Closing Night Gala starts at 7:00pm, with a brief Awards presentation, followed by the film.

These two festival favorites will be part of a new Documentary Competition, juried by three industry veterans, including: Daniela Kon (Talibe, SIMA), Patrick Creadon (Wordplay, I.O.U.S.A), Marina Zenovich (Independence Day, Roman Polanski: Wanted and Desired).
