Attorney Jonathan Blecher Honored by Florida Trend Magazine's Legal Elite 2013
It was announced today that Jonathan B. Blecher has been chosen for inclusion in Florida Trend Magazine’s annual list of Florida Legal Elite. This is considered a very prestigious honor and inclusion is highly coveted. Only about 2% of active Florida Bar members achieve the distinction.
Miami, FL, July 19, 2013 --(PR.com)-- It was announced today that Jonathan B. Blecher has been chosen for inclusion in Florida Trend Magazine’s annual list of Florida Legal Elite. Florida Trend is a leading publication focusing on people and issues of importance to the state’s business community.
This is the tenth anniversary of it’s Florida Legal Elite listing in which members of Florida’s legal community nominate and vote on the best of their profession. It is considered a very prestigious honor and inclusion is highly coveted. Only about 2% of active Florida Bar members achieve the distinction.
Mr. Blecher has practiced law in the state of Florida for over 30 years specializing in Driving Under the Influence (DUI) and Criminal Defense cases. He is currently Managing Partner at Jonathan B. Blecher, P.A. and was formerly an Assistant State Attorney in Miami and the Senior Trial Attorney at Essen & Essen, P.A. He received a B.A. degrees in Criminal Justice and Political Science from the University of Florida in 1978 and Juris Doctor from the University of Florida’s College of Law in 1981. He also served as a member of the Florida Bar DUI and Traffic Court Rules Committee and is a frequent lecturer on criminal law subjects to civic and business groups. Blecher is a member of many organizations including the Florida Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws (NORML), the ACLU, and Business Network International.
The Florida Legal Elite nomination process is open to all current members of the Florida Bar and participation has been high. Attorneys are asked on ballots whom among their colleagues they “hold in the highest regard or would recommend to others.” They are also asked to select three ‘up and coming’ lawyers and, as a separate category, those working in the areas of government and non-profit. Ballots are processed by Outsource America in Bradenton and EA Fernbacher LLC of St. Petersburg. A panel of former Legal Elite members do a final review of the results.
