Thieme Launches New Open-Access Journal: TCS Reports
New York, NY, June 25, 2013 --(PR.com)-- Thieme is proud to announce the launch of its new Open-Access journal Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgeon Reports (TCS Reports). A companion to The Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgeon, which is published in cooperation with the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Thorax-, Herz- und Gefäßchirurgie, TCS Reports compiles case reports of great clinical relevance to thoracic, vascular and cardiovascular research. Surgical implementation is a particular focus topic of this new journal. Original research and reviews will continue to be featured in The Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgeon.
TCS Reports will be entirely dedicated to the documentation and communication of unique or unusual cases encountered during surgical procedures of the heart, vessels and the chest. New clinical approaches to therapeutic management and specific clinical findings will thus be reported to the thoracic and cardiovascular surgical community to further the understanding of existing disease etiology and pathology. TCS Reports complements the research findings and reviews published in The Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgeon.
The newly appointed Editor for TCS Reports A. Böning (Giessen, Germany) and the Editor-in-Chief M.K. Heinemann (Mainz, Germany) are both delighted with this Open-Access title. Firstly, it will allow for the acceptance of a greater number of case reports than previously possible. Authors will also not be limited by word count thus enabling them to further elaborate on the case being reported. Secondly, outsourcing the case reports from The Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgeon will generate a larger capacity for other significant articles to be included in that publication.
Graham Brumfield, Senior Acquisition Editor, Thieme Publishers comments “The launch of The Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgeon Reports is a direct result of the continuing success of its mother journal and a reflection of the increasing number of quality case reports the title receives. This Open-Access journal gives new and experienced authors a ‘purpose-built’ platform to publish their work and we fully expect that it will become the premier title for thoracic and cardiovascular surgery case reports.”
TCS Reports will be available online and in print. All manuscripts submitted to TCS Reports undergo rigorous peer review. Supplementary material such as images and videos are encouraged for submission. As an Open-Access publication, all articles in TCS Reports are freely available for all to read and download from Thieme E-Journals. Archival print issues will be published and circulated to all print subscribers of The Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgeon. All members of the German Society for Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Thorax-, Herz- und Gefäßchirurgie), will receive TCS Reports for free.
