Sheltrex Promotes Youth Talent in Sports, Signs Up with India’s Top Squash Player Dipika Pallikal

Dipika Pallikal is the first athlete to join this Sheltrex sports initiative.

Mumbai, India, July 21, 2013 --(PR.com)-- Sheltrex Chairman Mr. Rajesh Krishnan launched their new “World-Champion Builders” program in Chennai today. Gracing the occasion was Dipika Pallikal, India’s top squash player who is the first athlete to be a part of this program.

Legendary cricketer Kiran More, representing Lakshya an NGO specialized in nurturing young sports talent was also present during the event.

Speaking on the occasion, Sheltrex Chairman and Brick Eagle MD Mr. Rajesh Krishnan said, "How do we build world class sports champions? By investing in a sports program that encourages young athletes from Tamil Nadu and all over India. The goal of 'World-Champion Builders' program is to look for rising stars of Tamil Nadu and nurture them into tomorrow’s world champions. We are extremely proud to be associated with such a talented player as Dipika. We will work hard with her to help her become the world’s no.1 squash player.”

Dipika is the first Indian woman to break into the top 10 in the WSA rankings. She has won 3 WISPA tour titles in 2011 that saw her attain a career best ranking of 13. Later, she bettered that with a top 10 ranking in December 2012.

The “World-Champion Builders” program is a youth and community sports program that will deliver on Sheltrex’s commitment to encourage young sport talent. The company plans to create a meaningful and lasting community sport legacy by growing sports participation at the grassroots level through this program.

Under this program, Sheltrex plans to host community sports tournaments and other sports activities in schools and colleges across Tamil Nadu and eventually all over India.

Rajesh Krishnan added, “In the next five years, we want to transform the sports scenario in Tamil Nadu, so that playing sports becomes a lifelong habit for more youngsters and a regular choice for the majority. In particular, we want to raise the number of 14- to 25-year-olds playing sport.”
