KMW Interiors Caters to Cat Lovers
Designer Kita Marie Williams is ecstatic to offer furniture solutions for cat owners.
Santa Monica, CA, July 24, 2013 --(PR.com)-- It was a June gloomy type afternoon in Venice when Kita (owner of KMW Interiors) got a client call. It was a quick conversation that ended in an appointment to see Carly Martinetti’s new apartment. The 23 year old who works as one of the producers of the Dr. Phil show, needed a designer to help her design and furnish her small yet, supremely located apartment in Santa Monica. “I was impressed by the maturity and accomplishments of this young lady,” Kita admits. As a fellow Bruin (UCLA) and Capricorn, Kita was immediately drawn to this client.
“I was a bit challenged by this one,” notes Kita, “there were high expectations for this small space. I was afraid that I wouldn’t’ be able to deliver.” Their first meeting included Carly’s entire family. “They were all there,” Kita said with happy expression. “Mom, dad, sister and the client. I knew she was a family oriented person and that somehow made me feel more comfortable.”
However, this client project had a challenge that Kita had not met before, but was all too familiar. Carly, an animal lover and owner of the fabulous animal advocate site The Featured Creature, has two beautiful cats. “It was like two sides to the same coin! One was pure white and rambunctious, and the other was all black and the picture of calm and wisdom. I fell in love immediately,” Kita admits.
Carly’s dream was to have cat shelves on one of the walls for her feline friends. “This excited me!” the designer exclaimed. “I’ve always wanted to do something like this,” Kita Williams was the proud owner of a rescued kitten that she lost to a feline type respiratory tumor. She had seen all kinds of innovative feline furniture solutions and was excited to put her new knowledge to the test. She ended up creating custom cat shelves on an accent wall in Carly’s apartment. “I made sure that the shelves fit in with the design of the apartment,” the designer notes. After all, it was Carly’s apartment, but she wanted to make sure her feline family members were included in the design.
“This is what I live for,” the designer notes with a smile. “It’s the ultimate mission of design. How do you make a space comfortable and beautiful while meeting the unique needs of the clients?” In this case, the clients are an intelligent young woman and her beautiful cats.
