Orioles Outfielder Nick Markakis and Wife Christina Join Casey Cares 5K at Camden Yards as Race Ambassador

Baltimore, MD, July 27, 2013 --(PR.com)-- The Casey Cares Foundation is proud to welcome Orioles Outfielder Nick Markakis and his wife, Christina, at the Fourth Annual Casey Cares 5K where they will be kicking off the race. The event begins at 8:00am on Saturday, August 3rd at Camden Yards and benefits programs of the Casey Cares Foundation, a charity that provides uplifting and continuous programs with a special touch to critically ill children and their families. Keith Mills, Sports Director of 98 Rock and WBAL radio serves as emcee. Other former and present Orioles are invited to attend.

The 3.1 mile race includes a chip-timed course and 1 mile Fun Walk that begins and ends at Camden Yards and includes refreshments and a “Home Plate Finish” photo. Over 2,000 participants are expected to attend. Race winners in each age group will be announced in a pre-game ceremony at the game that night. Event sponsors include MASN, WBAL-AM, 93.1 WPOC-FM, Baltimore Sun Media Group, and Under Armour.

“We are thrilled to partner with such a fantastic organization as the Orioles for our 5K,” said Casey Baynes, Founder and Executive Director of the Casey Cares Foundation. “While many Casey Cares children do their ‘running’ through the halls in the hospital, you can help support these critically-ill children and their families by running or walking in our 5K.”

When: Saturday, August 3rd; registration from 6:30 – 8:00am; race begins at 8:00am; walk begins at 8:15am; awards presentation begins at 9:30am.
