Independent Investment Firm, J.P. Turner, Launches Employee Volunteer Program
The management team and employees at J.P. Turner believe in giving back to the community. Spearheaded by Herman Mannings III, a 10 year J.P. Turner employee, J.P. Turner Connects is a formal firm initiative launched in June that puts their employees into action in the Atlanta community.
Atlanta, GA, July 28, 2013 --(PR.com)-- “J.P. Turner’s founders believe in the importance of making the community a better place so when Herm came to our Chief Operating Officer with the idea for a formal community outreach initiative he seized the opportunity,” commented Heidi Wheatley, J.P. turner’s Director of Marketing responsible for overseeing the J.P. Turner Connects program.
The first opportunity for J.P. Turner employees to volunteer was Saturday, July 20, at The Global Soap Project (www.globalsoap.org) warehouse located in Norcross, Ga. JPT Connects volunteers spent a portion of their Saturday morning sorting soap donations from hotels, inspecting previously used soap for debris and cleaning the warehouse. The work performed not only assisted in making soap available or refugees worldwide, it further promoted healthy hygiene habits and reduction of preventable diseases.
“Herm has a strong background of community service outside the firm so he’s the perfect person to organize the service opportunities. Our first outreach event was a tremendous success and will help employees build stronger relationships with each other,” said Wheatley.
The Global Soap Project recovers and recycles soap from American hotels and facilitates a process by which it is sanitized and remolded into new bars, then distributed to people who lack access around the world. The Global Soap Project has distributed new soap through relief efforts and hygiene education programs in thirty countries around the world. The organization creates an immediate positive health impact that can be sustained for the rest of people’s lives.
J.P. Turner CONNECTS volunteers and family members that participated in the project were: Firm co-founder Tim McAfee, Samantha Hughes, Rebecca Farish, Lukas Pilgrim, Martha Karimi, Marques Bates, Monica Tucker, Valerie Haggerty, Keith Candeto, Barbara Borowsky, Hannah Sledd and Herman Mannings III.
