Beverage Entrepreneur Doing Greater Good

Atlanta based beverage company Blue Donkey Iced Coffee are helping indigenous coffee farmers by purchasing raw coffee beans directly from origin at fair market value. The Direct-Trade process increases the standard of living for the coffee communities because they are getting much higher prices for each pound of coffee they sell to Blue Donkey.

Atlanta, GA, July 31, 2013 --(PR.com)-- Blue Donkey Iced Coffee has partnered with Frontline Missions, an non-profit organization closely working with several indigenous groups in Central America. Frontline Missions has worked with the Tolupan Indians of Honduras for many years. The Tolupans are a native people who live high in the mountains of Honduras and who earn most of their income from their small coffee farms. Their challenge is to get their beans to market. Blue Donkey Coffee seeks to purchase their beans at a fair market value. This will enable the Tolupan people to earn a higher wage on their crop and increase their standard of living.

Ed Lane at Blue Donkey says, "We value our partnership with Frontline Missions and are committed to truly helping the indigenous groups in Central America. Not only do we want to pay higher prices for their beans, but also want to meet and develop real relationships with the people who grow the beans we cherish so much."
