Solaris Plans New Facility in Milwaukee's Menomonee Valley Industrial Center
Solaris, Inc., a growing manufacturer of medical compression garments in southeastern Wisconsin, is moving forward with plans to relocate its operations to Milwaukee's Menomonee Valley Industrial Center.
Milwaukee, WI, August 01, 2013 --(PR.com)-- Solaris intends to acquire a site in the northwest corner of the industrial center and construct a new building at that location. The company currently employs 53 people, and it anticipates adding 30 coworkers in the next two years as it grows within its existing market and expands into additional markets. Solaris has grown 650% in the last seven years, has won the Future 50 award three times and has been named to the INC 500|5000 the previous two years. Solaris sells to all 50 states as well as 15 international countries through a network of hospitals, durable medical equipment companies, and distributors.
Solaris is a market leader in durable medical goods used for the treatment of lymphedema. While focusing on growth within current products and the lymphedema market, Solaris has made significant investments to offer new products and to develop market channels such as the wound care and venous deficiencies markets. The company's growth requires it to find new space for manufacturing and office operations.
"Solaris will be a great addition to the Menomonee Valley Industrial Center," Mayor Tom Barrett said. "The people who make Solaris a success - including the executives, the designers, the fabricators and the marketing team - will find the Menomonee Valley is a great place to grow."
"We have received tremendous support from the community of West Allis, which is where Solaris was located for the past several years. We have considered a variety of options for new facilities, and the Menomonee Valley emerged as the best solution for our co-workers," Kyle Weatherly, president of Solaris said. "Solaris is poised for continued growth, and we are pleased the company's future will be centered in southeastern Wisconsin. We would particularly like to thank the City of Milwaukee, City of West Allis, MEDC and MMAC who have all been great partners as Solaris has expanded."
Solaris' new headquarters is being developed by Interstate Partners, and designed by Korb Tredo Architects of Milwaukee. When completed in July of 2014, the 67,200 square foot building will house all of Solaris' office, development and manufacturing space. In addition, Solaris hopes to allocate space for up to two small start-up companies whom Solaris will provide free space, access to share facilities and assistance from its professionals.
The Menomonee Valley Industrial Center is comprised of 60 acres just east of Miller Park. Companies located there include Ingeteam, Palermo's, J.F. Ahern, Charter Wire, Derse, Taylor Dynamometer, Caleffi, and Badger Railing. Rishi Tea recently announced its intention to build a new headquarters in the industrial center. The site of the former Milwaukee Road shops was given new life when the city of Milwaukee and its Redevelopment Authority led a collaborative effort to return the land to productive use.
