Author Ann Gross says that her dream as a child was to become a registered nurse who would work with children. After graduating from nursing school, she was hired by the prestigious Children’s Hospital in Denver to care for infants in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit. She loved her work but was plagued by a deep sense of fear and unhappiness. What was to unfold in her life was a series of events in which she was introduced to the world of metaphysics and came to learn about qi, or chi, energy.
