2110 Consult Enables Efficient Email Management
Nottingham, United Kingdom, August 01, 2013 --(PR.com)-- St Albans-based practice 2110 Consult is feeling the benefits of an integrated approach to email and document management, having invested in Union Square for AEC Professionals. The chartered building surveying practice works mainly in the commercial sector, providing a variety of services from surveys and due diligence to full project management. A small but growing practice, 2110 is proactive in its approach and keen to be forward thinking in all aspects of business.
Practice growth brought with it increasing volumes of email and project documentation at 2110. An initial attempt to manage email data via a communal inbox resulted in huge mailbox sizes, which began to affect the performance of Outlook. Keen to ensure that all past and current project information was accessible if required, Managing Director Richard Taylor set out to find a solution. “We knew that if we didn’t act now things would get worse. The concept of losing any project information was not an option for us so we looked into information management solutions. Initially I considered a bespoke system, but quickly realised the amount of work required to get this working effectively would be far too great.” It was at this point that Richard looked into Union Square for AEC Professionals, a knowledge management system designed specifically for the construction industry, designed to centralise all business information. “We like that Union Square is relevant to construction, and has a good reputation for use amongst contractors as well as professional services organisations,” says Richard.
The decision was made to invest in Union Square and a phased implementation approach was chosen, as existing jobs were still in progress. New projects and enquiries were introduced into Union Square, as well as around 70% of the legacy project information which was still frequently accessed. The practice went ‘live’ with the new system a week earlier than expected, giving staff extra time to get used to the new way of working. “We’ve been up and running for some time now and can already see the benefits Union Square brings us,” continues Richard. “It’s now much easier to work remotely and find information, we’re moving away from hard copy document storage and there’s a significant reduction in Outlook inboxes. Emails are managed effectively and traceable should we need to find them.”
