Grand Caribe Belize Announces Results of June-July Facebook Contest for Families
Grand Caribe Belize Resort & Condominiums launched a Facebook contest for families on June 26th and wrapped it up on July 31st. The contest was a hit among Facebook fans, with 70 entries and 3,708 votes. Despite the great competition, Marie Veal, of Lombardy, Italy, has prevailed by gaining the most votes in the competition.

Marie Veal, from Lombardy, Italy, has emerged as the undisputed winner of a 4-night stay for a family of four in a 2 bed/2 bath condo. Her stay also includes American-style breakfast daily, along with a guided snorkeling tour for four to the Barrier Reef and local round trip flights on Tropic Air from the Belize International Airport to the San Pedro Airport.
Having had a very successful contest for couples which ended on Valentine’s Day this year, Grand Caribe Belize wanted to build on the resort’s exposure gained through the competition by following up with a series of monthly, themed contests. This contest, which ran from June 21st to July 31st, is the first in the series and was geared toward families.
To enter, contestants were required to submit a photo entry using the ‘Win!’ tab on the Grand Caribe Facebook page. The photo could either be uploaded or submitted from their Facebook photo albums. The entry had to contain a short caption that elaborated why their photo should win. After submission, contestants were encouraged to share their photo on Facebook with as many of their friends as possible to rack up votes that were cast by using the button next to each entry on the contest page. The contest ended on July 31st, 2013 after which the entry that had been voted for the most was declared the winner.
70 hopefuls submitted their photos for a chance to win, along with stories of why their photo should be voted for. There was a total of 3,708 votes cast by the time the contest ended, after which it was clear that voters felt that Marie’s story and photo were the most deserving of the prize. Marie’s photo of her family at Niagara Falls and her caption captured the essence of the quintessential family vacation. Her family had the appeal of being a large, close-knit one that enjoys vacationing together all over the world.
