The American Venous Forum (AVF) will hold its 26th Annual Meeting on February 19-22, 2014 in New Orleans, LA. The AVF Annual Meeting offers high-quality scientific analysis to those physicians interested in research, education and clinical investigation in the field of venous diseases. That AVF encourages all of its colleagues to participate in this growing educational program either by submission of a formal abstract for standard oral, quick shot presentation or poster presentation.

Abstract Submission Deadline: Monday, September 9, 2013, 11:59 pm (EST)
That AVF encourages all of its colleagues to participate in this growing educational program either by submission of a formal abstract for standard oral, quick shot presentation or poster presentation.
Rules for Submission
Abstract Submission Process
The abstract submission site can be found on the AVF website at www.veinforum.org. Once on the abstract submission site, login using an existing login and password or create a new user account. The abstract submission process is simple and straight-forward. Residents/Fellows should indicate their interest in being considered for awards by clicking “Award Information.”
Please Note: The AVF only accepts electronic submissions via the AVF website.
Rules for Submission of Abstracts
Your work must meet the following criteria:
• The work should be original and not previously published or presented.
• No reference should be made on or in the abstract to the names or institutions of the authors.
• Abstracts must be structured as follows: 1) Background 2) Methods 3) Results 4) Conclusions
• Abstract text must be between 50 (minimum) and 425 (maximum) words.
• Each table and/or graph will count as 25 words in the total word count.
• Abstracts must be submitted under one of the following categories:
- Superficial vein disease
- Venous thromboembolism/IVC filters
- Chronic vein obstructions
- Compression/Wound care
- Lymphedema
Presentation Types*
• Oral Presentation: 10 minutes in length
• Quick Shot Presentation: 5 minutes in length and will feature case reports, preliminary results, early data, small series or interesting cases
• Poster Presentation: In addition to the standard poster display, authors will be given the opportunity to provide a 3-minute oral presentation of their work during a moderated “poster grand rounds” session. Prizes are awarded for the best posters.
*Your presentation preference will be given every consideration. However, the final determination will be made by the Program Committee.
Publication Policy
Authors accepted for oral presentation at the AVF Annual Meeting are strongly encouraged to submit a formal manuscript to be considered for journal publication. The Journal of Vascular Surgery: Venous and Lymphatic Disorders is the official journal of the American Venous Forum.
Independent Submission for Poster & Quick Shot Presentations
Poster and quick shot abstract presenters are strongly encouraged to submit a manuscript for possible publication. The Journal of Vascular Surgery: Venous and Lymphatic Disorders is the official journal of the American Venous Forum.
Awards
If you are a resident or fellow in a vascular training program, consider applying for the Servier Traveling Fellowship.
Servier Traveling Fellowship
The Servier Traveling Fellowship is open to fellows and residents in a vascular training program in the continental United States. Abstracts submitted must represent original, basic or clinical research in venous or lymphatic disease. The Servier Traveling Fellowship will provide two fellows an opportunity to travel to the 26th Annual Meeting of the AVF and to the European Venous Forum in 2014 to present their research. The grant for fellow/resident research is chosen through a competitive peer review selection process. To apply for this traveling fellowship, you must submit an abstract for consideration to the American Venous Forum by Monday, September 9, 2013, 11:59 pm EST and indicate your interest in being considered for this award during the abstract submission process.
