Metrics Inc. Names Wes Edwards, MBA, CPA, Chief Financial Officer
Edwards will oversee company's financial, logistical and human-resources operations
Greenville, NC, August 03, 2013 --(PR.com)-- Contract pharmaceutical developer and manufacturer Metrics Inc. has appointed Wes Edwards, MBA, CPA, as its chief financial officer.
Edwards – who brings to Metrics 15 years of corporate and military experience in finance, accounting, supply chain management and pricing – will oversee all of the company’s financial, logistical and human-resources operations.
Last year, the privately held Metrics was acquired by Mayne Pharma Group Limited, a corporation publicly traded on the Australian Securities Exchange (ASX). Going public means Metrics now interacts with newfound stakeholders – such as regulators and investors – who have clear expectations when it comes to financial disclosure, said Phil Hodges, president of Metrics Inc.
“Wes has significant expertise when it comes to operating in public companies – along with a deep appreciation for organizational integrity and performance – which makes his coming onboard at Metrics timely and useful,” Hodges said. “I know he’ll apply his knowledge in ways that help protect the company’s assets and deliver superior financial results.”
Before joining Metrics, Edwards was the controller and finance director of two affiliated divisions of MBM Customized Foodservice Distribution. While there, the company was acquired by McLane Company Inc., part of the famed holding company, Berkshire Hathaway, owned by billionaire Warren Buffett.
During his tenure at MBM, Edwards was responsible for a team of finance, accounting and information technology professionals supporting all aspects of financial analysis and execution, cash and risk management, internal control and external general accepted accounting principles (GAAP) compliance.
Prior to that, Edwards was a senior finance analyst with Procter & Gamble, where he managed the budgets and supply chains for the $186-million Gillette and P & G antiperspirant product lines.
His move into corporate finance followed five years of service in the U.S. Air Force, where he managed finances for both the Delta IV rocket’s satellite launch services program and the B-1 bomber’s weapons modifications program, and attained the rank of captain.
Edwards earned his master’s in business administration degree from The Ohio State University’s Fisher School of Business. He attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill on an ROTC scholarship, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in economics. Edwards is a certified public accountant.
