MFG Tray Gives Back to the Community
Linesville, PA, August 07, 2013 --(PR.com)-- MFG Tray, a manufacturer of fiber reinforced composite products, celebrated their annual Giving Back to the Community Day on Saturday, July 20. A group of MFG Tray teammates came together to restore an overgrown cemetery to its former glory.
Oak Hill – Gehrton Cemetery, a small historical cemetery located approximately three miles southeast of Linesville, Pa. in Summit Township was largely unmaintained. Large trees and bushes dominated the cemetery; many people passing by would not know it was there. John Beagle, a local businessman that’s active in the Linesville community, said it’s been more than two decades since the cemetery has been maintained.
“I was a boy scout leader more than 20 years ago,” said Beagle. “Back then, I took a troop of boy scouts here to clear the land of undergrowth and trees. It’s been more than 20 years since this cemetery has received any attention.”
More than 20 MFG Tray teammates came prepared with chainsaws, rakes and pruning shears and cut away truckloads of trees and brush. Beagle and members of the Gehr family were very grateful.
“The Gehr family and myself are both very grateful for MFG Tray’s efforts,” said Beagle. “We were very impressed the MFG Tray team took time out of their weekend, on a rainy Saturday morning, to come and recover lost history.”
John Thompson, general manager at MFG Tray, said he is proud of the work they accomplished.
“There’s a precious account of history in this cemetery,” said Thompson. “Many pioneers and settlers of our area are laid here. We even found a Civil War veteran’s stone. We’re happy to restore this historical place back to a respectable state. I’m proud of the ‘caring for our community’ spirit displayed by our team.”
