Capture 3D Announces New ATOS Core Series of High Quality Structured Blue Light 3D Scanners: Ultra-Compact Powerhouse Starting in the $40K’s USD
Costa Mesa, CA, August 07, 2013 --(PR.com)-- The ATOS Core series is the newest addition to the ATOS product line of advanced 3D scanners engineered by GOM mbH Germany. With GOM's industry benchmarked reputation for designing and manufacturing accurate, high quality and innovative optical metrology systems, the ATOS Core is truly a mini sized powerhouse setting a new price/performance milestone in the marketplace. It fuses the latest GOM 3D scanning technology and intelligent software into a sleek and affordable solution for inspection, rapid prototyping and reverse engineering applications. Functionality and features, such as parametric inspection, touch-probe, photogrammetry and/or automation can be easily added as project requirements progress. This customizable growth path provides an even greater return on investment. Additionally, it can be used in conjunction with the ATOS Triple Scan and ATOS Compact Scan series, or multiple ATOS Core units via instant hot-plugging. Pricing starts in the 40k’s and is designed to outperform competitors in its class.
As its name suggests, the ATOS Core was created utilizing the fundamental ATOS concepts and engineered with a new technology to introduce a customizable series of high quality economical 3D scanners. It is architected using GOM’s stereo camera structured blue light technology to quickly obtain a physical object’s surface geometry digitally. After each scan, the software automatically aligns each measurement to build an accurate 3D virtual representation of the object. The ATOS Core is offered in three different product lines- Essential, Professional, and Kinematics.
Essential Line
All about 3D scanning
The Essential Line is for applications, such as reverse engineering or rapid prototyping, which requires 3D scanning without the advanced inspection functionality. It is an advantage for those who want to benefit from GOM quality, or enter into the world of 3D scanning, but just need the necessities. The Essential Line consists of the ATOS Core sensor, GOM Scan software, an image processing computer, and accessories. GOM Scan software is intuitive and easy to use. It seamlessly integrates with the ATOS Core sensor to deliver high quality 3D polygon meshes in STL format with 2 or 5 million PPS (points per scan). To address basic inspection needs, the ATOS Core Essential Line is also compatible with GOM Inspect freeware creating an ideal solution that is truly economical. It is a manually operated system that includes an industrial studio stand, tripod or desktop configuration. If project requirements progress, simply upgrade to the Professional Line at any time.
Professional Line
Solving quality control
The Professional Line tackles complex metrology applications. It encompasses the Essential Line hardware and adds on a multitude of advanced functionalities. The Triple Scan feature operates as 3 sensors in 1 system. Each high quality camera works independently from one another thus capturing scans from the left, right, and both cameras in high resolution feature detail. This innovative feature maximizes data collection and improves scanning on complex surfaces. Additionally, it minimizes the number of scans, thus reducing the overall measurement time. The Professional Line includes ATOS Professional software. Some of the functions include: polygon mesh editing, parametric inspection, teaching by doing, scripting, trend analysis, GD&T, comprehensive reporting, tracking, and much more. It can also be semi-automated with rotation tables and used in conjunction with Motion Replay, an intelligent macro recording program. It is also compatible with the GOM Touch Probe and Photogrammetry.
Kinematics Line
Affordable automation
The Kinematics Line is a fully automated solution designed to increase throughput, productivity, and repeatability for industrial quality control processes. It includes everything from the Professional line plus a small object motorization unit or ATOS ScanBox off the shelf robotic solution. In addition to the ATOS Professional software, the Kinematics Line comes with Virtual Measuring Room (VMR). VMR is an enhanced software module which allows users to build a virtual environment to create automation routines offline and online in an easy to use platform. The Kinematics Line can also be integrated with automated Photogrammetry utilizing the ATOS Plus system.

About Capture 3D
We live in a world fueled by creativity, innovation, and competition. When product ideas are born, the world of engineering gives it life. The tools and technologies we use on a daily basis are a critical factor to achieve success. 3D metrology plays a tremendous role in product design, manufacturing, production, and maintenance. It helps us decipher what the naked eye cannot and allows us to monitor trends to predict future issues. Measurement is an improvement process that validates the parts, and the parts that create the parts, to ensure all are within tolerance and meet design intent.
Capture 3D, headquartered in Costa Mesa, California, was founded in 1997 as the North American partner for GOM Germany. GOM has over 400 employees and 45 distributors worldwide. Capture 3D has offices throughout the United States including an Automated Metrology Solutions Center in Farmington Hills, Michigan. With their industry expertise and innovative technology, they team with companies to optimize concept through sustaining engineering product life cycles. From aerospace, automotive, consumer goods, power generation, entertainment, medical, to a variety of other industries, Capture 3D helps their customers solve engineering challenges, save time, minimize costs, reduce iterations and rework to improve overall time to market.
