Annual Cake-Off4Kids Event Helps Local Foster Kids and At-Risk Youth

Taste over 50 cakes baked by local amateur bakers.

Sunnyvale, CA, August 08, 2013 --(PR.com)-- Cake4Kids, a non-profit organization serving foster kids and at-risk youth, is pleased to announce its annual Cake-Off4Kids amateur baking contest and fundraiser at the Domain Hotel in Sunnyvale, CA on Saturday, September 14, 2013, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Volunteer-run Cake4Kids makes foster kids and at-risk youth feel special at least one day a year by providing a free, personalized birthday cake on a day which might otherwise go unnoticed.

Last year's sold-out competition raised over $10,000, and featured 50 bakers who delighted attendees with every combination of flavors and type of cake imaginable, from Star Wars and Snoopy to Tiffany lamps. Get a "taste" of the event by checking out last year's photos.

This year’s goal is to not only raise enough money to continue serving the local community of at-risk youth, but to actually expand programs in 2014. According to Melanie Gill, Executive Director of Cake4Kids, "There are currently 60,000 children in foster care and group homes in California, and we serve less than 2% of them. With funding from this event, plus donations received through our website, our goal is to continue to grow and support more foster kids. Part of our vision for the future includes adding basic life-skills lessons into our program, to increase the chance of personal success for this community of children."

Cake-Off4Kids is sponsored by Mio Vicino, who will provide pasta and salad for all attendees to enjoy before sampling the cakes; and the Domain Hotel, which is hosting the event. We thank them in advance for their support.
